Irmtraut Binna was an enthusiastic kindergarten teacher and well known in Bad Ischl.
Her teacher training was made possible during the war years by Ischl chaplain Dr. Schwarzbauer, who asked forty families of Ischl for support for the training.
"Some little light has glimmered, you have brought it into the world; and if it's completely dark, then it shines ahead, a lovely little red light – sometime." Is the first verse of a song that Irmtraut Binna wrote during her kindergarten teacher training in Linz. The song was later set to music by none other than Josef Kronsteiner.
In 1947, Binna won first prize at the All-Austrian Poetry and Music Competition.
Binna has written a lot of lyrics. In her modesty, however, she unfortunately destroyed everything, but here and there her poems have been preserved. Most of her poems she wrote for her beloved kindergarten children.
Irmtraut Maria Binna was a religious person and connected to the Roman Catholic parish. As a kindergarten teacher, she often introduced the children to parish life and took part in the festivals with them.
After her retirement, Mrs. Binna decorated candles for various occasions and brought joy to many people through her art.
In August 2016, three years after her death, a granite commemorative plaque was installed at her former workplace.
