HENRY DUNANT (1828, Geneva – 1910, Heiden)
Dunant was a Swiss businessman, founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate (1901). His visit to Ischl from 6 to 7 October 1863, where he conferred with members of the imperial family, served to prepare for the first Red Cross Conference in Geneva.
The commemorative plaque was initiated by Peter Huemer and solemnly erected on 29 October 2010.
