The famous Austrian actor Alexander Girardi (5 December 1850, Graz - 20 April 1918, Vienna) was in love with Ischl. This was perhaps because he debuted at the Imperial Court Theater in Ischl in 1871. Besides his engagements in Ischl, Girardi was loyal to the Theater an der Wien for over two decades. After so many summers spent in Ischl he bought this house in 1893.
