Home blessing of Stöger Griebl House

The Stöger Griebl House was built in 1618 by innkeeper and councilor Adam Sidler. Above the entrance, a marble slab with excerpts from two psalms was attached.

These Old Testament texts suggest a Protestant influence.

In the past, so-called home blessings were very popular. They served to bless and thus protect the house, its inhabitants and all the property. In this context, we also know the saying: "They are a bit short of domestic bliss" for situations in which there are disputes in the house.
