FRITZ LÖHNER-BEDA (1883, Wildenschwert [Bohemia] – 1942, Auschwitz)

Löhner-Beda was librettist, pop song lyricist, and a writer.

He was the librettist for Franz Lehár’s Land of Smiles (Land des Lächelns) and Giuditta, and collaborated with Alfred Grünwald for Paul Abraham’s Victoria and her Hussar (Viktoria und ihr Husar).

He was the pop song lyricist for Down there in the Lobau (Drunt in der Lobau), Of all things Bananas (Ausgerechnet Bananen), O Donna Clara, I lost my heart in Heidelberg (Ich hab mein Herz in Heidelberg verloren), etc.

In 1932, he bought the Schratt Villa and gave it to his wife. The whole family was murdered during the Nazi era, and the villa was aryanized.

The commemorative plaque was installed in 2012.
