The Hrovat family, owner of the Kurapotheke pharmacy, asked artist Jackie Sams to design the east wall of the pharmacy. She came up with the idea of presenting passersby with a series of paintings, each painting a famous painting slightly adapted with products from the pharmacy. From 2015 to 2016, eight murals were created.
The artist explains:
“It started with Mona Lisa, as I had always imagined that her secret smile was due to the fact that she had a candy in her mouth. From then on, ideas flowed, and it was great fun to combine the paintings with matching products. The most difficult part of the project was working with façade paint. I had a palette of ten quick-drying paint, so I could only mix very small amounts at a time.”
“In the course of the work, many people of all ages - both locals and tourists – contacted me. I had many interesting discussions about the paintings themselves, the painting technique, and also conversations about the products depicted.”
