Perneck Village Square

On 7 September 2019, the new village square of Perneck was opened. The square was designed by the Mitterberg Tunnel Syndicate (Interessengemeinschaft Mitterbergstollen). Since 2013, around a dozen men have made it their business to inform about the salt mine of Ischl (Ischler Salzberg). The village square was redesigned and a replica of the clock tower including a historical clock and a replica of a tunnel entrance were built. The square is a good starting point for walking the "Via salis" hiking trail loop.

Information boards were installed at all existing tunnels, and long-forgotten mine entrances were made visible again.
