The commemorative plaque to “The Waltz King” Johann Strauss the Younger is located to the right of the entrance of Café Ramsauer, his favorite café. It was installed in 1977.

JOHANN STRAUSS the Younger (1825, Vienna – 1899, Vienna)

Strauss was an Austrian bandmaster and composer. His waltzes include The Blue Danube (Donauwalzer), The Emperor Waltz (Kaiserwalzer) and there is also a waltz dedicated to Ischl, The Ischl Waltz (Ischler Walzer). Among his operettas are famous pieces like The Bat (Die Fledermaus) or The Gypsy Baron (Der Zigeunerbaron) and many others.

He owned a villa in Kaltenbach, which doesn’t exist anymore.
