The footbridge connects the esplanade with the Traunkai
The former wooden footbridge was destroyed by the flood of 1897.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary (1898) of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph, an iron framework footbridge with high brick-shaped bridge bearings and a middle pier in the same style was built in 1898, commissioned by the Sparkasse Bad Ischl bank.
The master builders of the bridge were Michael Treu, Huber and Leeb.
The bridge remains nearly in its original state and is under monument protection.
