Originally, the building consisted of two houses with wide crested roofs, and its owners were bourgeois innkeepers and tradesmen. By 1827, a theatre room for comedy plays had been set up in the attic. Before the municipality purchased the house, it belonged to the Sparkasse bank.
Since 1902,the house has served as Bad Ischl’s a town hall.
