Leharkai 6 or Grazerstrasse 7
The villa was named after Count Karl Maria von Coudenhove (2 December 1814, Vienna – 28 August 1868, Bad Ischl). He was an Austrian lieutenant field marshal. His grave is located in the cemetery in Bad Ischl (see the “Ischler Friedhofsführer”, p. 25, (“Guide to the Cemetery of Bad Ischl”)).
Originally, the building was called the “Klacklische Behausung im Gries”, which translates as “the Klackl family home in Gries”. Gries is a neighborhood in Ischl.
In 1791, Josef Klackl, a cooper, and his wife Theresia purchased the house. In 1849, Countess Julie Parry-Széchényi purchased the villa. After her, the widowed Countess Marie Leopoldine Széchen (née Countess Coudenhove) owned the house.
In 1894, the villa was newly built as Villa Coudenhove. The owners were the six children of Count Karl Maria Count von Coudenhove: Countess Josepha “Josa” von Hahn, Countess Auguste Desfours-Walderode, Count Franz von Coudenhove, Count Konrad Kuno von Coudenhove, Count Karl von Coudenhove and Countess Elisabeth von Coudenhove. Each owned a sixth of the villa. From 1903 until 1914, Karl was sole owner of the villa.
