The villa was constructed in 1848. It was purchased by Michael Dumba in 1867.
In 1895, Nikolaus Dumba inherited it. He endowed the Austro-Hungarian monarchy’s officers with the house as a recreation home. The villa was opened as a recreation home in 1898 as part of Emperor Franz Josef’s 50th anniversary on the throne. At the same time, an allegiance celebration of the cyclists took place in Ischl.
