Griesgasse 4 oder Oscar Straus Kai 3
Perhaps the mill at the bridge to Ischl, mentioned in the oldest urbarium* of Traunkirchen (around 1300), was located here because no other house seems to fit in terms of location (assumption by the author Franz Federspiel).
In 1775, Karl Etlinger (also “Edlinger) and his wife Helene bought the house. In an old record it says: "Karl Edlinger , bookbinder, works in his house near the Traun river close the bridge". As such, the name was named "Bookbinder House” (Buchbinderbehausung).
In 1905, the pewterer Johann Hueber and his wife bought the house.
Later a Pessl family lived here.
In 1922, Anna Bloch bought the villa. Her descendants were expropriated by the Geheime Staatspolizei (the Gestapo), the official secret police of Nazi Germany in 1942. The house then belonged to the military government. The confiscation was lifted in 1947.
The remodeling of the building in moderate art nouveau styles by master builder Hans Brandl dates back to 1913. Noteworthy are the copper sheet canopies above the entrances, the ceramic tympanum with the old address TRAUNKAI No 4 on the Traun river side, and the small house blessing picture on the Griesgassen side.
