CARL MICHAEL ZIEHRER (1843, Vienna – 1922, Vienna)

Ziehrer was an Austrian operetta composer, the last imperial and royal court ball music director, long-time summer guest of Bad Ischl.

He was particularly successful as a band master. Guest performances took him all over Europe. With the Hoch- und Deutschmeister (Teutonic Order Grand and German Masters) Infantry Regiment No. 4 band, he made a guest appearance at the World Exposition in Chicago in 1893. His dance music (waltzes, polkas, etc.) is still popular today, whereas his 22 operettas have largely been forgotten.

The commemorative plaque was installed in 1975.
