Calvary trail
The Calvary church in Ischl was built in 1706. It is the second oldest calvary in the Salzkammergut (after Traunkirchen (1696)) and was consecrated in 1711 by Cardinal Count Johann Philipp von Lamberg, Prince-Bishop of Passau.
Even from a distance, the almost life-sized terracotta figures of the Condemnation of Jesus on the front of the church are impressive. Behind the altar, there is an outstanding crucifixion group made by sculptor Johann Georg Kammerdorfer, of the Guggenbichler workshop. A special feature is also the organ by Johann Lorenz Santmay(e)r from 1715, which is still in use today.
Following the staircase to the church, there are four station chapels. Around the church are three other chapels, a wayside shrine, and St. Anthony's grotto.
