Calvary St. Mary’s Chapel

At the beginning of the Bauernfeld trail

The chapel, located a little bit off the popular Bauernfeld trail, does not have an event from the Passion story as its theme. It is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, which was declared a dogma in 1854, perhaps referring to the chapel’s construction year.

The small wooden building with a flat shingle gable roof can be described as a wayside shrine made entirely of wood with a projecting canopy resting on two turned columns and two square columns. On the ridge, there is a large cross with a globe. The rough-hewn granite stone base dates to 1994. In the shrine, behind a large glass screen, there is the panel painting of the Immaculate Conception on a globe, surrounded by four angels with an inscription of a prayer.
