Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Straße
The Roman Catholic parish church of Bad Ischl has existed for more than 700 years. However, its present appearance dates to the reconstruction work from 1771 to 1780, during which the church was newly built except for the Gothic church tower. The work was commissioned and also financed by Empress Maria Theresa, who ruled the Salzkammergut. This is still remembered today by inscription 1, which is entwined by a double-headed eagle above the main portal. Inscription 2 is in the window frame directly above the main portal.
