At the former farmhouse at Grazerstrasse 61, at the entrance to the “Gärtnerei Eder” garden center
The chapel, named after previous owners, was built by the then owner of the house, Wenzel Fiala, out of gratitude for his recovery. The date (1869) in the first Virgin Mary painting presumably indicates the date of the chapel’s completion. Around 1958, the chapel was renovated and set up as a place of war remembrance.
A simple rectangular building with chamfered corners at the back, the chapel particularly eye-catching because of its curved ornamental gable with cross and a tin-border decoration. The interior is barrel-vaulted with round-arched doors and windows.
At the front of the chapel, there is the above mentioned large painting of the Virgin Mary. The original painting was by Joseph Frauenlob, of Ischl, dated 1869. It was stolen and replaced by a painting by Maria Buchböck (1925 - 2015), of Ischl.
On each side of the chapel’s interior, there is a stone plaque with the names and pictures of residents of Reiterndorf, who died in both world wars. On the outside, in the gable, there is a painting of a wounded soldier.
