The former Salt Works Administration building was built between 1839 and 1841 by the famous architect Paul Sprenger (see also Rudolf's Monument). Until 2008, the building was the headquarters of the General Directorate of Salinen Austria AG, the Austrian salt company. If Sprenger was involved in the planning of the fountain, which was certainly built at the same time, it is not known.

Behind the official building, a small park was created, the center of which is the simple fountain located in the main axis of the office building. On an octagonal stepped pedestal stands a circular basin, in the middle of which is a Doric column crowned by a sphere. Gargoyles on the column, unfortunately only a temporary solution at the moment.
