Biedermeier villa in Kurpark gardens

Situated directly in the Kurpark gardens, the villa is the former outbuilding (Ger.: “Stoeckl”) of the Hotel Esplanade. Hence, “stoeckl” in its name.

Next to the building is the backyard garden of the Museum of the Town of Bad Ischl, with the bust of Johannes Brahms. On the other side of the building, one can find the Rosenstoeckl Villa, where Giacomo Meyerber and Theodor Leschetitzky but most notably Franz Lehár created their masterpieces.

The Biedermeier house, which authors described as dreamy and tastefully restored, was used as a restaurant for decades. but is closed today. This is a great pity because besides the described ambiance,  the restaurant offered one of the last beautiful restaurant dining patios in Ischl. In 2022, the house was turned into a residential building.
