Located in the Imperial Park, entrance on Götzstrasse
Archduchess Sophie (née Princess of Bavaria) bought the Biedermeier villa from the Viennese notary J.A. Eltz as a wedding gift for her son Emperor Franz Joseph and his bride, Duchess Elisabeth of Bavaria.
The villa was rebuilt in the neoclassical style by Antonio Legrenzi. Two side wings were added, so that the floor plan now represents a capital "E". The park was designed by court gardener Franz Rauch. Emperor Franz Joseph stayed in the villa almost every summer until 1914, which was the last year he stayed in Ischl.
The furnishings of the Imperial Villa have been preserved in their original condition, and the rooms can be visited on guided tours.
