In this modest villa or rather house, Joseph Ramsauer was born on 28 July 1905.
In 1921 he entered the teacher training colleague and then worked as a primary school teacher in Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Gmunden and Ebensee.
After he graduated from high school, he gave violin and brass instruments lessons at the musical schools.
During the wartime from 1939 to 1941, the composer worked as a secondary school teacher in Bad Ischl, and then received his teacher qualification for music and art history at secondary schools.
After the war, he worked exclusively as a composer. He composed many pieces including many symphonies and compositions, chamber music, a trombone concerto, the opera “Attila”, the famous “Laufnerberg Suite”, and a large volume of songs.
He started work on a cultural-historical piece about Bad Ischl.
In 1963, the Provincial Government of Upper Austria bestowed upon him the title of Consultant of National Education and Preservation of Local Customs and Traditions. In 1975, he was awarded the title of Professor and the Silver Order of Merit for Services to the Republic of Austria (Silbernes Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich).
He was a founding member and the first chairman of the Cultural Heritage Society of Bad Ischl.
The humble but famous character died in Bad Ischl on 4 February 1976. His final resting place is in the cemetery in Bad Ischl (see the “Ischler Friedhofsführer” (Guide to the Cemetery of Bad Ischl”))
