Weissenbachstrasse road B153, at the mouth of the Höllbach River
The chapel "Mary at the Ravine" is located on the Weissenbachstrasse road B153 at the mouth of the Höllbach River at the edge of the terrain just north of the junction of Rosenkoglstrasse from the main road.
The Biedermeier-styled chapel is on a rocky ridge between the road and the deeply cut Weissenbach River just east of the mouth of the Höllbach River above a parking lot. The exact time and circumstances of construction of this chapel are again unknown. At the time of construction (i.e., in the first half of the 19th century), there was a lot of activity here. There was a small farmstead, a ship wood saw, and several woodcutters' and hunters’ huts, because a lot of timber floating went on here.
In 2022, in cooperation with the Federal Monuments Office, the Volunteer Fire Brigade of Mitterweissenbach restored the chapel and refurnished it inside: there is a cross on the left, a carved statue of the Virgin Mary protected by a grille in the niche, and an inscription on the right wall designed by master painter Martin Neureiter (Psalm: The Lord is my shepherd...).
On the initiative of Helmut Mayer, a memorial plaque was erected below the chapel to commemorate motorcyclists who died in accidents in the Weissenbach Valley. The consecration took place as part of a May devotional on 16 May 2023.
