Memorial place Leschetizky in Ahorn

The piano virtuoso, music teacher and composer Theodor Leschetizky was a long-time spa guest in Ischl. He had his own villa on the street that was later named after him: Leschetizkygasse, his villa is at Leschetizkygasse 8, and it has hardly changed. In 1902, his students built a “Leschetizky Hut” here, which was replaced by the memorial stone around 1930.

This was reputedly also a  favorite place of Johannes Brahms, who was a friend of Leschetizky. Descendants of Leschetizky still live in Bad Ischl.

The centre of the small memorial place, which consists only of trees, lawns and paved elements, is the memorial plaque inserted into a structure made of dry stones.
