The monument to Theresia ("Resi") Pesendorfer was unveiled on April 27, 2025.
A bicycle is leaning against a square stone column. This reminds us that Resi Pesendorfer was always on the road by bicycle when supplying the resistance fighters. The sculpture was designed by the artist Eva Grubinger.
A plaque is attached to the column that Resi Pesendorfer quotes: "Whenever it became dangerous, they sent me."
Theresia Pesendorfer was born in 1902 into a working-class family in Ischl. Her father was a salt worker, her mother died when she was 10 years old. She played a key role in the political resistance against National Socialism. She helped with the escape, hid persecuted people, ran errands and provided those in hiding with food. During this time, Resi Pesendorfer built up a women's network and was awarded the "Decoration of Honour for Services to the Liberation of Austria" after the war. She died in October 1989 and is buried in Ebensee. (Source: CULTURE OF REMEMBRANCE IN BAD ISCHL, Kloiber Christian and Friedwagner Mario, 2023)
