On the west side of the bridge, in the middle
During the flood of 1897, the main bridge of Bad Ischl and a wooden statue of the "bridge saint" St. John of Nepomuk, which had been added to the bridge in 1867, were destroyed. In 1899, Amalie Drouot, a long-time summer guest from Linz, donated a cast-iron statue of the saint for the new iron bridge, which was opened in 1900. The statue of St. John of Nepomuk was last restored in 2008 by the Cultural Heritage Society of Bad Ischl (Ischler Heimatverein).
The statue is a polychrome cast iron sculpture of St. John of Nepomuk with the typical attributes being cross and star nimbus. On the pedestal is an inscription dedicated to Amalie Drouot, as well as the logo of the Lions Club of Bad Ischl, which sponsored the restoration in 2008.
