The statue of the Madonna was delivered in October 1895 by the Mayer art studio (Kunstanstalt Mayr) in Munich, Germany. The canopy was not completed until 1897 by the Braun company in Vöcklabruck, Austria. The statue was consecrated on 29 May 1898.

The life-sized terracotta statue of a crowned St. Mary with the Baby Jesus stands on a newer stone pedestal under a dome-shaped canopy made of delicate cast iron profiles. Originally, the coat of paint of the statue was light and uniform, which was intended to give the impression of marble. The attributes like the crown, scepter and globe were gilded. Initially, the canopy was framed in dark grey and enriched with gold accents.
