In 1838, the villa was bought by Matthias and Theresia Zimmermann for 3,000 Gulden. In 1842, Count Otto von Fünfkirchen, imperial-royal treasurer, bought the villa. In 1850, Count Josef Ugarte bought the house for 25,000 Gulden.
In 1856, Archduchess Sophie (mother of Emperor Franz Joseph) bought this villa for her sons Franz Joseph, Karl Ludwig and Ludwig Viktor. The villa was an annex of the Imperial Villa. Even Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria stayed here during his visits in Ischl. In 1918, Archduchess Gisela of Austria received the villa, hence its current name: Villa Gisela.
In the 1920’s, a casino was established in the villa.
Today, the villa is owned by a private owner. The house and the attached, beautiful garden are in very good condition.
