The wooden villa belonged to Baron Dr. Hermann von Widerhofer, (1832, in Vienna – 1901, in Bad Ischl; buried in Vienna’s Hietzing Cemetery).

Widerhofer was a personal physician of the imperial family. As pediatrician he was responsible for the children. On 31 January 1889, he and two other doctors performed the autopsy on the corpse of Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria.

In Ischl, Widerhofer was considered a great benefactor. On 11 October 1873, he received the honorary citizenship of Bad Ischl.
