At Steinfeldstrasse 2, immediately after the bridge on the right side
The old “Covered Bridge” to Steinfeld was demolished in 1891, and together with the new bridge, the old crucifix was renewed by a new and larger cross. The cross was erected in a wooden chapel. The corpus for that was supplied by the Imperial and Royal Technical School for the Wood Industry in Ebensee. In 1910, the cross was renovated. When the war memorial was erected in 1923, the cross was moved to its current location and given a concrete base. At the same time, the roof was enlarged and simplified. The last restoration took place in 2019, initiated by the Cultural Heritage Society of Bad Ischl (Ischler Heimatverein).
The cross with an almost life-size, naturalistically framed corpus hangs in a superstructure with a steep gable roof, made of thick beams lavishly decorated in notched cutting and painted brown and ochre. On the concrete base, there is a metal plaque with a prayer painted on it.
