The age of this rare type of wayside shrine is unclear, but  it could be at least 200 years old, having been created perhaps at least in the 18th century. In 1997, it received a new shingle roof.

The brick and smoothly plastered pillar, with a deep segmental arch niche, has a flat shingle roof. On its outside, there are a few remnants of a painting, whitewashed several times. In its niche, there is a mural that is also currently whitewashed. That painting is said to be a fresco-secco, probably dating from ca. 1800, which may have depicted the Holy Trinity or the Coronation of Mary. The side walls of the niches may have had images of saints.

In the past, a path to a mill led past this wayside shrine.
