Unfortunately, there is little information about this beautiful and relatively old wayside shrine. Due to its style, it was probably made in the second half of the 17th or first half of the 18th century. According to an old tradition, during the Napoleonic Wars (French troops were in Ischl in 1800-01, 1805 and 1809), the people of Ischl handed over the required contribution to the French at this shrine after the French threatened to fire cannons at the market. It is not known if the tradition is true.

The neatly crafted tabernacle wayside shrine is crowned by a double cross with "IHS" in the halo. Inside the rectangular niche, reputedly, there is a picture of St. Barbara, patron saint not only of miners but also of artillerymen (!), painted on sheet metal. If this is true it not known because for a long time, the niche has been closed by a small window covered with a picture of the Virgin Mary.
